Step Into the Anime: A Real-Life Walking Tour of K-pop Demon Hunters’ Seoul

The whole world is obsessed with ‘K-pop Demon Hunters’ (or ‘Kedeheon,’ as fans call it), and I am no exception. The moment it dropped on Netflix, I binged the entire season and was completely hooked. When I found out that the anime’s stunning backdrops were real places in Seoul, I knew I had to see them for myself. As if by fate, the Seoul Tourism Organization launched the ‘Seoul Trip Hunters Stamp Tour.’ I grabbed a friend, and we immediately set off on a weekend pilgrimage.

Of the many filming locations, we chose to follow the romantic dating course of Rumi and Jin-woo, where their feelings for each other first blossomed. From Bukchon Hanok Village to Naksan Park, here’s our fan tour of the most heart-fluttering spots in Seoul.

1. The Starting Line: Grabbing Our Stamp Book & a Famous Hot Dog in Myeongdong!

A cheesy hot dog from a Myeongdong street food vendor, as seen in K-pop Demon Hunters.

Before our adventure could officially begin, we needed to pick up our stamp books. We headed to the easily accessible Myeongdong Tourist Information Center. The streets were buzzing with energy, packed with locals and international tourists alike—a true testament to the global popularity of K-culture.

After getting our stamp books, we were met with an irresistible temptation: the very same cheese hot dog featured in the show’s memorable first encounter between Huntrix and the Lionz! Holding a hot dog with a satisfying cheese-pull, just like in the anime, made me feel like I’d stepped right into the world of ‘Kedeheon.’ It was a small but perfect start to our day.

  • Insider Tip: Stamp books are available at 8 tourist information centers across Seoul. However, the final commemorative souvenir can only be collected at the Myeongdong or Gwanghwamun centers, so plan your route accordingly!
  • Time Spent: About 30 minutes for picking up the book and enjoying the snack.

2. A Place Where Time Stands Still: Rumi & Jin-woo’s First Meeting at Bukchon Hanok Village

A tranquil alleyway in Bukchon Hanok Village, the setting for Rumi and Jin-woo's date in K-pop Demon Hunters.

With full stomachs, we hopped on the subway to Anguk Station. After a short walk from Exit 3, we were greeted by the serene, sweeping rooftops of Bukchon Hanok Village. This is the exact spot where Rumi and Jin-woo walked along the rooftops, singing their duet, “Free.”

Even though it was a busy weekend afternoon with many tourists dressed in hanbok (traditional Korean clothing), the deeper we ventured into the alleys, the quieter and more peaceful it became. It was so much more fun than a regular walk, as my friend and I kept saying, “They must have met right around this corner!” while picturing scenes from the show.

Of course, we couldn’t actually walk on the roofs, but taking photos against the backdrop of the elegant hanok eaves and old stone walls was more than enough to capture the magic. We stopped by a beautiful traditional teahouse for a short break, and the view of the village from the window was like a painting.

  • Insider Tip: Bukchon is a real residential neighborhood. Respectful, “quiet tourism” is a must. Please keep your voices low and your footsteps light.
  • Getting There: Take the subway Line 3 to Anguk Station, Exit 2 or 3.
  • Time Spent: Around 1.5 hours, including taking photos and exploring the alleys.

3. Seoul’s Quintessential Night View: A Romantic Finale at Naksan Park

The incredible night view of Seoul from the Naksan Park fortress wall, a famous K-pop Demon Hunters date spot.

As the sun began to set, we hurried over to Hyehwa Station for the highlight of our ‘Kedeheon’ date course: Naksan Park. From Hyehwa Station Exit 2, we walked through Marronnier Park and followed the signs leading up the hill.

I have to be honest—the path up to Naksan Park is steeper than it looks! We found ourselves panting and saying, “Rumi and Jin-woo ran up this hill?!” Grabbing a warm coffee from one of the charming cafes along the way was a fantastic decision.

But the challenging climb was instantly rewarded the moment we reached the top. The panoramic view of Seoul glittering beyond the old fortress wall was absolutely breathtaking. The warm orange glow illuminating the stone wall against the city lights perfectly recreated the ethereal, dreamlike atmosphere from the anime. It became crystal clear why so many K-dramas, films, and of course, ‘Kedeheon,’ chose this incredible spot. We sat along the fortress wall for a long time, just talking and soaking in the unforgettable view.

  • Insider Tip: If the walk seems too daunting, you can take a local shuttle bus (Jongno 03). However, the view that gradually reveals itself as you walk up is part of the experience. Comfortable shoes are non-negotiable!
  • Best Time to Visit: I highly recommend arriving just before sunset. You’ll get to enjoy the golden hour, the sunset, and the spectacular night view all in one visit.
  • Time Spent: A comfortable 1.5 hours, including the walk up and time to enjoy the view.
